Lviv National Opera holds grand International Opera Singers Competition dedicated to the anniversary of Solomiya Krushelnytska
In 2022 we celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the famous Ukrainian opera singer Solomiya Krushelnytska, who performed at the most famous theatres of the world. The anniversary of the singer will be celebrated next year at the state level; the corresponding decree was published on the website of the President of Ukraine V. Zelensky. Among the key events is the 6th International Solomiya Krushelnytska Opera Singers Competition which will be held at Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after S. Krushelnytska. The competition will take place on November 13-20, 2022 under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the State Agency of Ukraine for Arts and Art Education.
The International Solomiya Krushelnytska Opera Singers Competition has a long history. It was founded in 1991 to attract attention to opera, discover young talents and promote Solomiya Krushelnytska on the international level. During 30 years of its existence, the competition was held at Lviv National Opera five times with the international jury and participants.
Opera singers under the age of 35 are invited to participate in the 6th Competition. You can apply for participation on the competition website https://krushelnytska.com.ua from June 1 to September 1, 2022.
Another peculiarity of the competition is that the last – 3rd Round features the participation of the contestants in the operas from the theatre repertoire. The first two Rounds are accompanied by piano and orchestra. So the audience can visit the show and support the performers. In the recommended program, besides the world classics, the performance of an aria from operas by Ukrainian composers, such as M. Berezovsky, D. Bortniansky, M. Arkas, M. Lysenko, S. Lyudkevych, B. Lyatoshinsky, M. Verykivsky, Y. Meitus, Ye. Stankovych and others is mandatory.
The singers will compete for different prizes and special award; the prize fund totals more than 35,000 US dollars.
