Since 1998, Alberto Veronesi has been the artistic and music director of the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, held under the aegis of the Puccini Foundation, which was presided by Veronesi from 2015 to 2019. At the Festival, he conducted all the works of Giacomo Puccini several times, and in 2003 he received the “Abbiati” award for staging the opera La boh\u00e8me. In August 2022, he was appointed president of the Giacomo Puccini Foundation at the request of the composer’s descendants.
\nFrom November 2008 to December 2013, Alberto Veronesi was the artistic director of the Philharmonic at Bologna Municipal Theater, in which he conducted the operas Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci and many symphony concerts.
\nIn 2010-2016, he was the music director of the Opera Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall (he became the first Italian musician to be appointed as music director of the institution in New York after Arturo Toscanini). In 2012-2014, he was the artistic and music consultant of Tianjin Grand Theater (China), which was opened on March 22, 2013, with Giacomo Puccini’s opera Tosca. From 2001 to 2011, he was the music director of the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, with whom he performed world symphonic music.
\nAlberto Veronesi has been an official artist of Deutsche Grammophon since 2006. He recorded seven albums, including collaborations with famous artists like Pl\u00e1cido Domingo, Roberto Alagna and Angela Gheorghiu.
\nIn past seasons, he conducted at Vienna State Opera, the National Theatre of Bucharest, the Savonlinna Opera Festival, the National Opera of Budapest, the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie in Brussels, Berlin State Opera, at Bologna Municipal Theater, Carnegie Hall in New York, Avery Fisher Hall in New York, at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, NHK in Tokyo, at the National Theatre in Athens, at the Tel Aviv Opera, etc.
