Duo Sonoro:

Andrii Pavlov (violin)/ Valeriia Shulga (piano) 

Violinist Andrii Pavlov and pianist Valeriia Shulga are the representatives of the young musical generation of Ukraine. They present a national music school at many prestigious forums in Ukraine and abroad.

Andrii Pavlov was born into the family of musicians in Kyiv. After graduating from R. Glier Kyiv State Music School he entered P.I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine (Professor Vadym Kozin’s class). During his studies, he improved his professional skills with such violinists as György Pauk, Philip Zetzer, Krzysztof Smetana, and Andrii Belov.

As a soloist Andrii collaborates with such leading Ukrainian orchestras as the National Honored Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, National Chamber Ensemble “Kyiv Soloists”, National Ensemble of Soloists “Kyiv Camerata”, Lviv Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra, and New Era Orchestra. Being a soloist and cameralist, Andrii gave concerts in Switzerland, France, Denmark, Austria, Portugal, Poland, including performances at Radiokulturhaus in Vienna, UNESCO in Paris, and Menuhin Forum in Bern.

In 2017, Andrii was awarded L.M. Revutskyi Prize by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

 

Valeriia Shulga is a graduate of R. Glier Kyiv State Music School and P.I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine (Professor Anatolii Gudko’s class). In 2016, she completed assistant internship of the chamber ensemble department (Professors Anatolii Gudko’s and Tetiana Arsenicheva’s classes). Valeriia perfected her mastery with many famous pianists, including Bernd Goetzke, Robert Kulek, and Denis Kozhukhin.

As a soloist Valeriia performed with Chernihiv Philharmonic Orchestra, Ukrainian Variety Symphony Orchestra, and Harmonia Nobile Chamber Orchestra. She is a regular participant in such festivals as KyivMusic Fest, GOGOLFEST, Two Days and Two Nights of New Music, etc.

As a duo Andrii and Valeriia performed the music for the first time in 2007.

The concert geography of Duo Sonoro includes performances at the following festivals: MonteLeon Chamber Music Festival in Spain, Zeist Music Days and Grachtenfestival in the Netherlands, Randspiele in Germany, concerts in Italy, Poland, Austria, Great Britain, as well as participation in master classes of chamber music with such professors as Marc Danel, Andrii Belov, Oleksandr Pavlovskyi, and Philip Zetzer.

Duo Sonoro is a laureate and special prize winner at numerous international competitions, including the Plovdiv International Chamber Music Competition’s Grand Prix (Bulgaria, 2017), the Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition’s 3rd Prize (Italy, 2016), the Johannes Brahms International Competition’s 3rd Prize (Austria, 2015), and International Stasys Vainiūnas Piano and Chamber Ensemble Competition’s 3rd Prize (Lithuania, 2014), etc.

In 2014, Andrii and Valeriia were invited to hold a master class at Tehran Conservatory of Music (Iran).

In 2019 the duo participated in one of the most prestigious European summer music academies – ISA of the MDW – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where musicians perfected their skills with professors Johannes Meissl, Hatto Beyerle, Avedis Kouyomdjian, Marta Gulyas, Peter Schuh maser.
