Opening of the theatre
The City theatre was opened on October 4, 1900. Its company's performance level was very high, Warsaw might envy refinement and topicality of its repertoire. Guests, which came to Lviv visited the theatre without fail. Famous Austrian composer, director of the Royal Opera in Vienna, G.Mahler, who was on tour, performing as director in philharmonic society in 1903, wrote: “Yesterday evening I was listening to the opera by G. Puccini “Tosca”. It's a beautiful performance in all respects and it's even strange that in the Austrian provincial city it is possible to find something like that”.
